August Simonius
August Simonius (born August 7, 1885 in Basel ; † December 24, 1957 there ) was a Swiss lawyer .

He studied law at the universities of Basel, Paris , Berlin and Leipzig . After receiving his doctorate in Basel, he became a private lecturer in 1915, associate professor in 1918, and full professor of Roman law and the law of obligations at the University of Basel from 1920 to 1957 (1922 and 1923 rector ). From 1922 to 1937 he was a judge at the Basel-Stadt appellate court. He found his final resting place in the Wolfgottesacker cemetery in Basel.
