August Sonnefeld

The optician August Sonnefeld (born August 30, 1886 - January 31, 1974 ) worked at Carl Zeiss in Jena from August 1, 1911 and became head of the astro-optics department in 1935 .

He created the Astro-Spezial-Lens AS and the Astro-Vierlinser named after him after Sonnefeld (see also: Astrograf ). In 1957, on the occasion of his 70th birthday, he was awarded the title of Great Scientist of the People .
