August Straub (writer)

August Matthäus Straub (born January 22, 1900 in Meschede , † January 11, 1986 in Kassel - Harleshausen ) was a German journalist and writer.

Life

Straub graduated from high school in Kassel and then studied in Heidelberg, Karlsruhe and Gießen. He was a soldier in the First World War . He then worked as an editor in various places, including Karlsruhe. In 1933 he was banned from working. From 1928 to 1945 he was editor-in-chief of the weekly Das Literaturblatt . In addition, from 1953 he was a lecturer for German literature in Gießen. From 1954 he worked as a freelance writer.

  • 1964: Narrator award for master narration about the artist of the Western Last Supper in the Soest Wiesenkirche
