August Trautewein

August Trautewein (born April 19, 1860 in Quedlinburg , † December 27, 1932 in Gernrode ) was a German politician for the Social Democratic Party of Germany .

The trained blacksmith, who lived temporarily in Wernigerode and Egeln , acquired citizenship in his hometown in 1887 and became active for the SPD here. He took over an inn and moved to Gernrode in Anhalt as an innkeeper in 1901, where he also ran an inn until 1913. In Gernrode he was active in local politics and was a member of the Anhalt State Parliament in Dessau from 1918 to 1932 .

In 1907 he ran unsuccessfully for the German Reichstag.
