August Vogel (architect)

August Vogel (born July 6, 1927 in Odenheim ; † July 13, 2015 ) was a German architect .

August Vogel attended elementary school in Odenheim and from 1937 to 1944 the humanistic grammar school in Bruchsal . After his military service he did an apprenticeship as a carpenter in 1946/47 and then began studying architecture at the Karlsruhe State Technical Center , which he completed as a graduate engineer. In 1951 he became an employee of the Archdiocese of Freiburg's Archbishop's Building Department and was then head of the Karlsruhe branch office of the Heidelberg Archbishop's Building Department from 1961 until his retirement in 1991, most recently in the rank of Archbishop's Building Director, and thus responsible for all church buildings between Bruchsal and Brühl .

He was also active in local politics, from 1975 to 1999 he was a member of the Karlsruhe municipal council for the CDU . He was also chairman of the Waldstadt Citizens' Association from 1967 to 1986 .

He was awarded the Cross of Merit on Ribbon of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Medal of Merit of the State of Baden-Württemberg .
