August Wilde (politician)

August Wilde (born September 3, 1868 in Neustadt in Upper Silesia , † February 26, 1940 in Glauchau ) was a social democratic politician and member of the state parliament in Saxony.

Life

The son of a shoemaker completed an apprenticeship as a weaver after attending primary school and then went on a hike. Until 1904 he worked as a factory worker in a weaving mill. From 1905 to 1919 he worked as an employed bookseller in the people's bookstore in Glauchau.

Wilde had been a member of the executive committee of the SPD in Glauchau since 1891 . From 1906 to 1917 he was a city councilor for the SPD. From 1909 to 1918 Wilde represented the 15th urban constituency in the Second Chamber of the Saxon State Parliament . During the November Revolution he was elected chairman of the workers 'and soldiers' council in Glauchau. In 1919/20 he was a member of the Saxon People's Chamber and from 1926 to 1933 again a member of the Saxon State Parliament . In addition, Wilde worked in Glauchau as an unpaid councilor from 1918/19 and as a paid councilor from 1919 to 1932. Professionally, he also appeared as a publisher of the Glauchauer Volksstimme and as a bookseller.

Nothing is known about his life after 1933.

Honors

In the GDR, the Carolapark in Glauchau was named after August Wilde. The renaming was reversed in 1991.
