Jean François Auguste Trichon (born November 1, 1814 in Paris , † September 14, 1898 in Boulogne ) was a French wood cutter .

Auguste Trichon was a son of the jeweler Charles Auguste Trichon. He married Marie Louise Limosin called Laforest in 1847. From 1835 he studied at the École royale de dessin in Paris and learned painting in the studio of Raymond Quinsac Monvoisin and the art of woodcuts with Henri Brown . From 1836 to 1840 he edited for all illustration works for the publishing house Andrew, Best & Leloir. In 1844 he worked for the Les Etrangers à Paris factory; later in particular for illustrated magazines such as “Musée de Familles”, “L'Illustration”, “Le Journal pour tous”; “Le Magasin des Enfants”, “Le Journal du Dimanche”. He also provided woodcut illustrations for Samuel Griswold Goodrich 's children's books . He created many views of Boulogne. From 1865 he directed a school of woodcutting for girls. His daughters Marie Augustine Adèle and Marie Louise Adrienne Trichon also worked with the woodcut.

His students included u. a. the Swiss Paul Armand Girardet and Théodore Girardet and the Swedes Tekla Nordström , Anne-Marie Cederquist and Antoinette Vallgren .
