Paul Armand Girardet

Paul Armand Girardet (born May 22, 1859 in Versailles , † 1915 ) was a French wood cutter and painter.

Paul Armand Girardet came from a Swiss Huguenot family of engravers and painters. His father, Paul Girardet, was an engraver. His brothers Jules , Eugène , Léon and Théodore and his sister Julia Antonine also became engravers and painters.

He received his training in graphic techniques from his father and from the wood cutter and illustrator Auguste Trichon . He studied painting at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris with Alexandre Cabanel . He lived in Neuilly-sur-Seine and from 1898 exhibited his works at the Salon of the Société des Artistes Français .

He specialized in color woodblock prints and mainly produced views of French landscapes and castles, often of Versailles Palace . He also painted genre scenes and landscapes.

In 1893 he married the sculptor Berthe Imer (1861–1948).
