Augusto Camerini

Augusto Camerini (born January 21, 1894 in Rome , † December 18, 1972 in Rome ) was an Italian painter , draftsman and film director .

Life

Camerini was a fairly successful painter; But he was better known as a humorous draftsman and cartoonist for numerous magazines such as Travaso delle idee , Contachiaro and Paese sera . Between 1920 and 1922 he also devoted himself to the cinema, for which he had previously worked as a stage painter . With the beginning of the sound film era, he devoted himself not only to painting but also to book illustration and directed one more time in 1933; his brother Mario was in charge of overall management.

After the Second World War , Camerini worked again in film functions; he was assistant director to Giorgio Bianchi in 1947 and 1948 and screenwriter for three other films in the mid-1950s.
