Augustus Holmes Kenan
Augustus Holmes Kenan (born April 21, 1805 in Baldwin County , Georgia , † June 2, 1870 in Milledgeville , Georgia) was an American politician . He was the cousin of Owen Rand Kenan . He was also married to Henrietta Alston, niece of Willis Alston and sister of Augustus A. Alston. He was the father of Lewis Holmes Kenan .
Kenan served in the Georgia House of Representatives and Senate . He also represented Georgia in 1861 at its secession convention , where he initially stood against secession. He was then elected to the Provisional Confederate Congress and later to the House of Representatives of the First Confederate Congress.
He died in Milledgeville and was buried there in Memory Hill Cemetery .
