Augustus Sol Invictus

Augustus Sol Invictus (Latin: "Sublime Unconquered Sun"; real name: Austin Gillespie ; born July 31, 1983 in Dayton , Ohio ) is a right-wing extremist activist and lawyer. Invictus belongs to the American Alt-Right and advocates the creation of a white ethnic state .

Private life

Austin Gillespie changed his name to Augustus Sol Invictus in 2006. Invictus identifies with the Thelema movement founded by Aleister Crowley . The thelemite brotherhood Ordo Templi Orientis excluded Augustus because of his political views.

Invictus is divorced and has four children. Earlier lovers reported Augustus several times for domestic violence. In the absence of evidence, the charges did not lead to any indictment by the public prosecutor.

Studies and career

Invictus holds a BA in Philosophy with Honors from the University of South Florida . He then attended DePaul University , where he graduated with a law degree in 2011. Invictus was a Fellow at the International Human Rights Law Institute while studying law. Invictus worked as a fellow on international criminal law and the law of armed conflict.

Invictus is licensed to practice law in Florida, New York, Illinois and Massachusetts. In 2012 he defended Marcus Faella in criminal proceedings. Faella is a leader of the neo-Nazi civic militia American Front .

Invictus founded the law firm Imperium in 2013, PA Invictus specializes in criminal cases related to terrorism and drug trafficking.

In April 2013, Invictus released a public letter that the Southern Poverty Law Center described as "bizarre" and "disturbing". In the letter, Invictus waived his US citizenship and license to practice law. Instead, he now wants to prepare for the purpose of his birth. Invictus sees this in the "Second American Civil War" against socialism and globalism.

On May 19, 2015, Invictus announced its candidacy for the Libertarian Party in the Florida Senate election. Adrian Wyllie resigned as chairman of the Florida Libertarian Party in protest at Invictus' candidacy. Wyllie accused Invictus of promoting eugenics and practicing animal sacrifice. Invictus admitted to having advocated eugenics in an article. The article no longer reflects his current position on eugenics. Invictus also admitted to drinking goat blood as part of a pagan ritual in the spring of 2013. Invictus lost to his fellow party member Paul Stanton in the Libertarian Party primary .

Invictus is the publisher of the online magazine The Revolutionary Conservative, founded in 2017  . With the magazine Invictus wants to contribute "to defend the American republic and to defend the western civilization."

Invictus gained media attention as the spokesman for the far-right demonstrations in Charlottesville in August 2017 . A month earlier, Invictus had announced that it was leaving the Libertarian Party, which he believed had been "infiltrated and corrupted" by the left. Invictus has been a member of the Republican Party since then . The demonstrations made headlines across the country when a right-wing extremist participant sped his car into a crowd of counter-demonstrators on August 12, killing one person. The Miami Herald wrote that Invictus 'involvement in the demonstration and "the political aftermath of Charlottesville [Invictus'] would remove hopes of political office."

Views

Invictus advocates a non-interventionist foreign policy. Interventions would have cost countless American lives and resulted in trillions of US dollars in national debt.

Invictus is a proponent of the night watchman state: it calls for a balanced state budget, deregulation of companies, and an abolition of income tax and the IRS .

Invictus calls for an end to mass immigration and an end to the war on drugs .
