Auke Jelsma

Auke J. Jelsma (born August 28, 1933 in Amsterdam , † January 14, 2014 in Hilversum ) was a Dutch church historian.

Jelsma studied at the Free University of Amsterdam and the Catholic University of Nijmegen . From 1970 to 1998 he was a lecturer and professor at the Evangelical Theological University (PThU) in Kampen . Teaching and research areas were mysticism, the history of women, heresy, tolerance and Boniface.

He published numerous works, including a comprehensive work on the Birgitten monasteries of the Order of the Redeemer .
