Ben Vercammen (born May 21, 1988 in Herentals ) is a Belgian ice hockey player who plays for HYC Herentals in the Belgian-Dutch BeNe League . His younger brother Joep is also a Belgian international.

Career

Ben Vercammen has played with HYC Herentals since the beginning of his career as a hockey player . When he was first used in the reserve team in the second Belgian division, he was promoted to the first team at the age of 17, which was then playing in the Belgian honorary division . In 2009 and 2012 he and his team won the Belgian national championship there , and in 2012 also the cup competition . From 2010 to 2012 he and his team also took part in the Dutch-Belgian North Sea Cup . When this series was dissolved, Vercammen moved with the first team of HYC Herentals in 2012 to the Dutch honor division . Since the BeNe League was founded as a joint top division for Belgium and the Netherlands in 2015, he has been playing there with his club. He won the first edition of this new series with his club and thus also became Belgian champion in 2016. He also won the Belgian cup competition with HYC in 2016 and 2017 and further Belgian championships in 2017 and 2018.

International

For Belgium, Vercammen already took part in the U-18 World Championships in 2004 , 2005 and 2006 . After relegation from Division II in 2004, he had to compete in the lowest class in the following year, but rose with his team immediately due to a second place at the Division III tournament in Sofia. In the U20 he played at the 2005 , 2007 and 2008 World Championships . Here, too, he was initially active in Division II, but the Belgians had to forego participation in 2007–2006 - starting over in the lowest class, where he returned to Division II with a second place at the tournament in Ankara.

With the men's national team , Vercammen took part in the World Championships of Division II in 2007 , 2008 , 2009 , 2010 , 2011 , 2012 , 2013 , 2014 , 2015 and 2016 .
