Aulus Caecilius Faustinus

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Aulus Caecilius Faustinus was a Roman politician living in the 1st and 2nd centuries AD .

Through military diplomas , e.g. Some of them are dated 14 August 99, it is documented that he was a suffect consul with Quintus Fabius Barbarus in 99 . Further diplomas, e.g. Some of them are dated May 13, 105, prove that he was 105 governor of the province of Moesia inferior . At an unspecified time he became governor of the province of Pannonia superior . He is mentioned on a diploma dated May 3, 112. On that day, however, his successor, Lucius Minicius Natalis , was already in office. An inscription shows that he was governor ( proconsul ) in Africa afterwards .

Remarks

  1. The soldiers, who were granted Roman citizenship through the diplomas , had been dismissed from military service by Faustinus before the end of his term of office ( dimissis honesta missione a Caecilio Faustino ). At the time the certificates were drawn up, however, his successor had already taken over from him ( in Pannonia superiore sub Lucio Minico Natale ).
