Lucius Minicius Natalis

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lucius Minicius Natalis was a Roman senator and suffect consul in AD 106.

Minicius came from Barcino, today's Barcelona , in the province of Tarraconensis . As the first of his family ( homo novus ), he began, probably in the mid-1980s, the senatorial career ( cursus honorum ). After the quaestur in a province and the usual offices in Rome ( tribunate , praetur ) he was legate in the province of Africa 101 before and was accepted into the sodales Augustales . 101/102 he took part as legate of Legio VII Claudia in Trajan's First Dacian War and received several military awards from the emperor. Then he was about 103-105 legate of Legio III Augusta in Numidia and reached 106 the suffect consulate. Later he was curator alvei Tiberis et riparum et cloacarum urbis in Rome . Minicius is attested by military diplomas for 112 to 116 as governor of the province of Pannonia superior ; he presumably took over the office shortly before May 3, 112, and was then in office until at least August 117. Under Hadrian he was proconsul of Africa around 121 .

In his hometown of Barcino, Minicius Natalis had a bath built with the water pipe leading to him. His son Lucius Minicius Natalis Quadronius Verus was a suffect consul in 139.
