Jens Ivo Engels

Jens Ivo Engels (* 1971 in Cologne ) is a German historian and university professor .

Live and act

Jens Ivo Engels studied modern and contemporary history , Eastern European history and public law at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg from 1991 to 1995 . During this time he completed a study visit at the University of Bordeaux Montaigne from 1993 to 1994 , where he obtained a degree (Maîtrise) in modern history. In 1995 he passed his master's degree at the University of Freiburg . In 1998 he was at Erich Pelzer with the work of royal portraits between hope, ridicule and coping with everyday life doctorate . Then he was with Franz-Josef Meier Bruges research assistant and from 1999 research assistant at the Department of Economic and Social History at the University of Freiburg. In 2004 he qualified as a professor and obtained the Venia legendi for modern and contemporary history. From 2004 to 2008 he was a lecturer at the Department of History at the University of Freiburg. In 2008 he was at the Institute of History of the Technical University of Darmstadt as a professor nominated for Modern and Contemporary History. From 2011 to 2015 he was Vice Dean of the Faculty of Social and Historical Sciences.

He is the managing editor of the journal Neue Politische Literatur .
