Christof Dipper

Christof Dipper (born January 10, 1943 in Stuttgart ) is a German historian who, in addition to the German, also deals very intensively with recent and recent Italian history.

Scientific career

In 1963 Christof Dipper began studying history, political science and Romance studies at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg , from which he graduated in 1968 with the first state examination. In 1972 he received his doctorate from Reinhart Koselleck , also in Heidelberg . Dipper completed his habilitation in 1980 at Trier University , where he had started working as a research assistant ten years earlier. The work was supervised by Wolfgang Schieder . Various professorships followed, such as B. by Eberhard Jäckel at the University of Stuttgart and by Wolfgang J. Mommsen at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf .

In 1987 he was then appointed to a Fiebiger professorship for modern and contemporary as well as economic history at the University of Trier. From there he moved to the Technical University of Darmstadt in 1990 . He was vice dean there from 1993 to 1995, and was dean for the following two years. From 1999 to 2007 he was a member of the Senate. In 2008 he retired. In 1998/1999, Dipper was a research fellow at the Historisches Kolleg in Munich.

Dipper was a visiting professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 2000 .
