The Aumeister is a Munich pub with a beer garden for 2500 guests. It is located at the northern end of the English Garden in the Hirschau south of the Föhringer Ring and east of the student town of Freimann in the Freimann district ( Kulturheim district ).

history

After the creation of the English Garden , the Aujägermeister's house was moved from Lehel to the northern edge of the Hirschau on Freimanner Flur and from 1803 was part of the new Kulturheim district together with three other newly built courtyards . In 1810/11, the court mason Joseph Deiglmayr built a new farm building on the site of a former wooden garden farm building in the form of a two-storey free-standing hipped roof house in the classicist manner, which is now called "Aumeister". The building is a historical monument. After the forest and forest master not only had to look after the game in this part of the Isar floodplain, but also had to entertain the participants in the court hunts, the foreman was visited by day trippers even before the hunt in the Hirschau was abandoned. In 1845 it was described as a “pleasant place frequented by the higher classes”. From this a popular inn with an attached beer garden developed, which is still frequented by day trippers. The Aumeister was part of the Freimann community from 1808 and was incorporated into Munich together with it in 1931.

In 1972 the turning loop of the Olympic marathon route was on the Aumeister . Blue dashed markings in the middle of the Hirschau paths bear witness to this for over two decades.
