Luigi Pistilli (born July 19, 1929 in Grosseto , † April 21, 1996 in Milan ) was an Italian actor .

Life

Pistilli completed an acting training at the Piccolo Teatro in Milan, which he graduated in 1955. Over the years he developed into one of the best-respected theater actors in Italy, who was repeatedly cast in works by Giorgio Strehler and was particularly praised for his interpretation in the plays The Threepenny Opera and The Holy Johanna der Schlachthöfe by Bertolt Brecht . Shortly before his last appearance in Terence Rattigan's Tosca ovvero primo dell'alba , he committed suicide after the play was panned by both critics and viewers and he had also separated from his long-term partner Milva .

Pistilli's career began in 1961; a year later he played under the direction of Sergio Leone in spaghetti westerns -Klassiker For a Few Dollars More . He was then used in the genre that was extremely popular at the time in various outstanding productions. Leone signed him again for the last part of the "Dollar" trilogy , Two Glorious Scoundrels with Lee van Cleef and Clint Eastwood . In Sergio Corbucci's Corpses Paving His Way , he played alongside Klaus Kinski and Jean-Louis Trintignant , in Django the Avenger with Franco Nero and in Giulio Petronis The Bill Is Payed With Lead again with Lee van Cleef. When the heyday of the genre ended in the 1970s, he switched to crime and horror films , placing little emphasis on the artistic weight of the roles he selected. Pistilli could also killers (like the "Alberto" in Mario Bava's Im Blutrausch des Satans ), alcoholics (in Il tuo vizio è una stanza chiusa e solo io ne ho la chiave ) or disaffected commissioners ( killers are our guests ) and committed journalists ( The power and its price ). In the later part of his career, Pistilli was also seen on television. B. in the 5th part of the successful crime miniseries Alone against the Mafia .

Pistilli was rarely present as a voice actor.
