Auri is a Finnish band . Their music is described as a mixture of folk , pop music and film music .

history

Auri was founded by Nightwish members Tuomas Holopainen and Troy Donockley and singer Johanna Kurkela . The name Auri is based on the character of the same name in the novel series Die Königsmörder-Chronik by Patrick Rothfuss . The first song Aphrodite Rising was written back in 2011 . Due to other obligations of the band members, however, it took until 2017 until work on the debut album Auri could be completed. This was published on March 23, 2018.
