Education and training channel

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Training and advanced training channels (also known as training frequency) are radio and television broadcasters who serve to train, promote and try out young journalists, mostly for commercial private and non-commercial broadcasters .

Organization and demarcation

In Germany , education and training channels have so far been established by the state media authorities in Bavaria, Saxony, Hamburg and North Rhine-Westphalia together with the respective sponsoring associations (also known as sponsoring groups) founded for this purpose. This includes various social organizations, universities, but also private and other non-university educational institutions and media companies. These are mainly financed by the state media authorities and the member organizations and companies. Advertisements are usually not sent. Insofar as universities also belong to or even dominate the group of program organizers organized as GmbH or association, the distinction to pure university radio is not clear.

In contrast to free radios , open channels and citizens' radio , access requirements, program elements and structures are determined by the respective media supervisory authority with regard to training objectives. The respective statutes regulate in great detail who is allowed to participate with what conditions, whether and to what extent sponsoring is allowed, which program formats are to be implemented in which form, etc.

A forerunner under public law was the Saarbrücken city radio from SR (1986–91; FM 94.2).

In Austria , the license to broadcast on training frequencies is issued by RTR . They are limited to one year and must then be extended for another year. They are subject to the advertising ban in Austria. Only sponsor names such as "The weather is presented by company XY" are possible.
