The so-called Ausgestochene Marter is located on the outskirts of the wine-growing village of Nordheim am Main . It is located in the vineyards of the Kreuzberg vineyard on the way to Hallburg Castle .

history

The torture is a typical votive shrine. The choice of the location in the middle of the vineyards is related to the pledge of a Nordheimer. He swore to erect a wayside shrine at the place where the news of his wife's death was brought to him. Similar to the Kreuzschlepperbildstock in Obervolkach, there was also a stepped Christ on the canopy . However, it was removed at a later time.

The wayside shrine was erected in 1719. An inscription in the base gives the exact date: "Anno 1719, December 6th, the pious Johann M. and Elisabeth Rosalia Marquardin, his married housewife, had this picture made in honor of God anhero." The Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation classifies the wayside shrine under the number D-6-75-155-29 as an architectural monument.

The wayside shrine has the shape of a processional altar. Four small pillars entwined with vines, in front of each of which a saint is posted, support the canopy. Several putti heads are attached for decoration. The rear columns are connected to each other by a plate. A crucifixion group fills the front of the panel. Are shown Mary and John beside the dying Christ. Mary Magdalene kneels under the cross. Above it, God the Father and the dove of the Holy Spirit float in a cloud.

A sick woman is depicted on the back. She lies in a four-poster bed; Mary with the baby Jesus hovers in the clouds above her. A crucifix is on a table next to her.
