This settlement is bordered to the west by Springbrook , to the north by Neranwood and Advancetown , to the east by Bonogin and to the south by the Tallebudgera Valley . history
The settlement was established in 1934 by the Queensland government to help rural settle and employ the then large number of unemployed Australians. During the time of the Great Depression , especially those from Brisbane , they should find employment in banana plantations. The land was cleared and divided into blocks, 50 houses and a school were built. The houses lined up in the valley along a dirt road. Mudgeeraba Creek flowed behind the houses. The west side of the settlement was bounded by the Nimmel Range . The settlement did not last long, because in 1939 the poor economic situation had largely been overcome and the families left the settlement again. Today, some dairy farmers and farmers who grow avocados in this valley are a reminder of the past. It was named after the Minister of Labor W. Austin, who was responsible for this state measure.
There is no school in Austinville today. It is now in the adjacent Springbrook.
