The awards of the Austrian capital Vienna are honors that are given by the Vienna City Council or mayor to people who have made outstanding contributions to certain areas of public life.
Since Vienna is on the one hand an urban municipality , but at the same time one of the nine federal states of Austria , there are awards from both the city of Vienna and the federal state of Vienna.

Named after the doctor Julius Tandler , the Professor-Dr.-Julius-Tandler Medal of the City of Vienna (three-tier: gold, silver, bronze) has been awarded since 1960 as an outward sign of recognition and appreciation to people who have shown themselves to be selfless and self-sacrificing Activity for the well-being of others.
