Autere is a Finnish metalcore , groove metal and melodic death metal band from Turku , founded in 2002.

history

The history of the band goes back to September 2002 when guitarist Juha-Matti Helmi and drummer Jaakko Pellotsalo came up with the idea of forming a band during a course for security guards, which they had a lot of time and which they found boring. After the course, nothing happened in the first few months before bassist Markus Virtanen joined us, who knew Helmi from working on a side project. During the first rehearsals the trio only played covers , before they decided to write their own songs, chose the name Autere for the group and started looking for a second guitarist. They were able to contact guitarist Jussi Kaumi via the Internet, although the band had already tried in vain to find a bass player. The band then started writing their own songs while looking for a singer. Except for a few trials with a possible candidate, who then turned out to be unsuitable, it was initially unsuccessful. Jemmy Kaumi finally joined the band as a singer. Shortly before the recording of a first demo , the drummer Pellotsalo left the line-up because he moved to Savonlinna . From July 2003, the group started looking for a new drummer, who was found in October 2004 with Tatu Turunen from Raahe , who was planning a move to Turku. In October 2004 Juha-Matti Helmi left the band. The remaining members first tried to find a replacement before they decided to continue as a quartet. In May 2005 the EP Lines & Fragments was recorded in the pop studios in Loimaa , before new material was written a month later. Petri Huhtala joined the formation in mid-2005 as the second guitarist. After several demos, the debut album Amal'l was released on Inverse Records at the end of 2014 .

style

Michael Dalakos from metal-temple.com wrote in his review of Lines & Fragments that it was a mixture of Metalcore and Death Metal in the Gothenburg style. The singing is extreme, but is mixed with clear vocal lines. The sound is modern, although it is easy to orientate yourself towards the US market. Gustavo Scuderi from theheadbangingmoose.wordpress.com assigned the band to Melodic Death and Groove Metal in the review of the album Amal'l . The music sounds modern, melodic and full of energy, with the group processing heavy and technically demanding riffs . The vocals are reminiscent of that of Pantera , although occasionally more melodic clear vocals are used. In addition to similarities to Arch Enemy and other Swedish death metal bands, you can also hear US metalcore influences. T. Ray Verteramo from maximummetal.com described the album as an innovative metalcore with complex changes in time and tempo. The singing is varied.
