  • Hall I.
In Hall I, automobile and motorcycle history from over 100 years is shown on three floors, with rarities from the 1950s to 1980s in the foreground and the exhibits being changed over and over again. In addition, individual pieces from automotive history show important turning points towards today's mobile world. Information on the individual vehicles and many engine models round off the exhibition.
  • Hall II
The historic brick hall is dedicated to vintage cars from the years 1930 to 1950, agricultural machinery and tractors as well as steam engines. In addition, a special exhibition on motorcycles from the former GDR will be shown there. A historical workshop gives insights into the work of the motor vehicle industry around 60 years ago.
  • Hall III
The centerpiece of the new Hall III is an exhibition in the two-wheeler area, where visitors can see the history of 1950 to 1985 on hundreds of motorcycles, especially from the two-stroke engine range from 50 cm³ to 125 cm³. German brands such as Zündapp , Kreidler and Hercules play the main role here. In addition, changing special exhibitions on the following topics will be shown: the development of electric mobility , exotic tuning from the 1970s, style icons from Mercedes , as well as a presentation of the rare Italian sports car brands Iso Rivolta and Bizzarrini .
  • Outdoor area
Jets, helicopters and military vehicles await visitors in the covered outdoor area. Furthermore, a large engine and machine exhibition shows the development of the individual engine types. Large radial engines , tank engines and production machines expand the military exhibition in the outdoor area.

History of the museum

Due to the relocation of the own company to a larger production hall, space for an exhibition became available in 1990 and the idea of opening a museum matured. After long renovations, space was created for the first exhibits.

After two years of renovation work, the museum opened on September 11, 1992 and the exhibition has been open to the public ever since. Since there was insufficient space in exhibition hall I, a special exhibition for vehicles from the 1930s to 1950s was opened in a historic brick hall opposite. In the meantime, this special exhibition has also been supplemented and completed with tractors, steam engines and agricultural machinery.

The outdoor area with jets, helicopters and military vehicles was opened in 1995. A large machine exhibition, which is constantly being expanded, expanded this open space exhibition.

Due to the steadily expanding exhibition, the exhibition area was again expanded in 2007 by almost doubling the area on the first floor in Hall I.

The old stone sawing hall, which is located on the museum grounds, has been renovated over the years, and in 2007 the Eckert family decided to set up a restaurant there. The restaurant was opened in 2010 and has been available to the museum's visitors ever since.

In 2012 the entire outdoor area was roofed over.

In mid-2018, the museum was expanded by around 4,000 m² in Bayreuther Straße 33. The additional museum space is used in particular for changing special exhibitions in order to be able to repeatedly show visitors attractive and varied episodes from the history of motorized locomotion.
