The MTZ - Motortechnische Zeitschrift is a specialist journal in the field of power machines . history
MTZ was founded in 1939 by Heinrich Buschmann and Prosper L'Orange . Today's sister magazine ATZ is older and was founded in 1898 as Der Motorwagen .
Content and topics
The MTZ has traditionally reported on topics relating to internal combustion engines, starting with the first research projects and developing prototypes through to series implementation and the introduction of production. Since the 2010s, the topic has also included electric motors and electrified internal combustion engines. The spectrum ranges from small engines to large engines for applications in shipbuilding, from the testing of new materials to new concepts of mechanical and electronic engine components to complete systems, as well as research, laboratory, test bench and simulation topics . In addition, there are reports on specialist conferences and other events, as well as new patents . The contributions are mainly created by development managers and specialist speakers from various institutions and companies, as well as by editors of the publishing house.

An English-language edition of MTZ has existed since 2008, which Springer-Verlag publishes exclusively as a digital magazine.
