The Auwaldsee in Ingolstadt is located in the southeast of the city of Ingolstadt near the motorway and the industrial area. The approximately one kilometer long lake serves as a local recreation area. It was created during gravel mining as part of the construction of the motorway in the 1930s.

Facilities

There is a restaurant, a disco, a mini golf course and a fenced-in campsite by the lake. Sunbathing lawns, demarcated bathing areas for non-swimmers and a boat rental complete the offer in summer. In winter the lake is also used for ice skating and ice stock sport. There is a circular path around the lake, on the north side of which there are various play and fitness equipment; On the south side, an educational forest trail provides information on forest management topics.

natural reserve

The lake has a larger and a smaller island, which are used for nature conservation. In addition to ducks, swans and coots, you can also see gray herons and great crested grebes . They find breeding opportunities at the Auwaldsee or the adjacent old Danube waters and in the alluvial forest area . The beaver is now a guest at the lake, as well as at the quarry pond .
