The AvD-Oldtimer-Grand-Prix is one of the largest classic car racing events in Europe.
history
On August 10, 1973, the Automobilclub von Deutschland (AvD), the Club Historischer Renn- und Sportfahrzeuge Nürburgring (CHRSN) and the Hesse Motor Sport Club Wiesbaden (HMSC) jointly held the first International Historic Race on the Nürburgring . A few years later, the event, which is still held today, was renamed the "AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix".

The races are held with around 500 historic racing cars from the late 1920s to the early 1980s. Around 20 races and regularity tests, training sessions for the individual racing classes and demo drives are usually on the program, such as B. One of the special features of the AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix is that the drivers and owners of classic automobiles are accessible to everyone. Access to the paddock is possible with normal tickets.

The FIA Founding Member's Club Heritage Cup honors extraordinary and outstanding efforts in the world of historic vehicles. The AvD-Oldtimer-Grand-Prix convinced the FMC members in 2014 with 50,000 spectators as well as 14 races and regularity tests that were unique in terms of scope and quality. Facts like these led to the award of the FIA Founding Members' Club Heritage Cup, which has been awarded since 2010.
