Rocío Ríos

María Rocío Ríos Pérez (born March 13, 1969 in León ) is a former Spanish long-distance runner who specialized in marathons .

She was Spanish champion nine times, four times in the 10,000 meter run (1991, 1992, 1996, 1997), three times in the half marathon (1992, 1994, 1995) and once each in the 5000 meter run (1994) and in the marathon (1997). In 1994 she finished second in the Spanish national record time of 2:29:00 h in the Berlin Marathon . She set another national record in 1997 in 1:09:59 h over the half marathon distance.

Her best international championship results in marathon run achieved Ríos with fifth place at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta and sixth place at the 1998 European Athletics Championships in Budapest. At the World Athletics Championships in Athens in 1997 , she finished 21st. She also won the bronze medal in the team classification at the World Half Marathon Championships in 1995 in Montbéliard and in 1998 in Uster .

Rocío Ríos is 1.56 m tall and had a competition weight of 46 kg.
