Ave Maria (heraldry)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ave Maria is a common figure in heraldry and is reduced in the coat of arms as the lettering Ave Maria completely in the field or to the capital letters A and M. In the latter, both initials are superimposed and placed in a coat of arms in a tinging and font. The letters can be covered with another coat of arms , or they can be accentuated by a crown , a cross or a star . A halo of stars can surround the initials or just a nimbus can underlay everything.
