Avi Jacob Bachenheimer (born March 26, 1985 ) is an Australian archaeologist and historian . He is head of the Research Center at the Australian Institute for the Study of Ancient Iranian Society and Culture ( Institute for the study of ancient Iranian society and culture ).

life and work

Avi Bachenheimer received his BA in history and archeology from the University of Western Australia with Brian Bosworth in 2015 and his MA in 2017 from the same university in archeology with a master's thesis on the unfinished tomb of Darius III.

Bachheimer worked from 2015 to 2018 at the Central Institute of Technology in Near Eastern linguistics ( Central Institute of Technology in the Middle East Linguistics ) and received in 2017 the pilot project price of ISAISC for the project Vashna: Database of Iranian Archaeological Sites . His expertise in Achaemenid historiography and linguistics has sparked academic collaborations with the UNESCO World Heritage Center and the National Museum of Iran .

Bachenheimer has written extensively on subjects related to the history and archeology of the ancient Near East , including works on the syntax and phonology of the ancient Persian language and the first archaeological studies ever to be made on the unfinished tomb of Darius III. Were carried out in Persepolis . Bachenheimer's revision of Achaemenid historiography had a significant impact on the field of ancient oriental studies .
