Aware (also Auareh , Ge'ez አዋሬ Awarē ) is a place in the Degehabur zone of the Somali region in Ethiopia . It is the capital of the woreda Aware of the same name .

According to the Central Statistics Agency of Ethiopia for 2005, Aware had 4,760 inhabitants. In 1997, 99.75% of the 3,191 inhabitants were Somali , and eight were from other ethnic groups.

The residents of the area are mainly nomadic ranchers. Members of the Eidagalla- Isaaq clan live north of Aware , while Ogadeni- Darod live in the south . There have been wells in Aware since the 1920s, but traditionally the Eidagalla mainly used water points across the border in northern Somalia / Somaliland , while the Ogadeni went to Bulale for this purpose . It was only after more wells were dug from the 1960s that Aware itself gained importance as a water point.
