Axel Roos (born August 19, 1964 in Rodalben ) is a former German soccer player . Today he works as a football coach .

family

Axel Roos, whose father Ludwig Roos had played for the then regional league club FK Pirmasens , grew up in Thaleischweiler-Fröschen . Today he lives in Otterberg with his wife and children .

Player career

Roos was a youth player at SG Thaleischweiler-Fröschen until 1979, after which he was active for six years in the youth team of 1. FC Kaiserslautern (1. FCK). For this club he played as a professional between 1984 and 2001 a total of 328 games, 303 of which in the 1st and 25 in the 2nd Bundesliga. Most of his 18 goals (17 in the 1st, one goal in the 2nd division) for FCK he scored in the 1980s, when he was still on the offensive.

Roos won two German championships with 1. FCK (1991 and 1998), two DFB Cup victories (1990 and 1996), the Supercup victory in 1991 and the German indoor championship in 1997. This makes him the club's player who has been involved in the most title wins . With 22 years of membership in the club, he has held the “loyalty record” at FCK since the Bundesliga was founded in 1963.

Coaching career

After obtaining his trainer license, Roos, who studied business administration for four semesters, was a manager and trainer at FK Pirmasens . Until the end of 2006 he acted as assistant coach of the Albanian national soccer team under the direction of head coach Hans-Peter Briegel . After a short interlude as a soccer teacher in Bahrain , he is the director and coach of the Axel Roos soccer school in Otterberg. He has also been working as a coach at the German-American Soccer Academy K-Town Rush in Kaiserslautern since 2014 .
