Axel Zarges

Axel Norbert Zarges (born October 7, 1932 in Kassel ; † December 29, 1989 ) was a German politician ( CDU ).

Life

Zarges studied law and political science, politics and history in Marburg and Bonn from 1953 to 1957 . In 1957 he passed the first state examination in law, followed by a doctorate in 1959. After he also passed the second state examination in law in 1962, he started working as an independent lawyer in the same year. From 1973 he worked as a notary.

Zarges joined the European Movement in 1951 , where he performed several leading positions. In 1958 he also joined the CDU, where he also held a number of management mandates. He was a member of the European Parliament from the beginning of 1984 until his death.

Zarges was the recipient of the Europa Union Medal .
