Axenstar is a Swedish power metal band from Västerås .

history

Axenstar was founded in 1998 by Peter Johansson and Magnus Ek as a metal cover band under the name Powerage . After a few line-up changes, in 2001 the group of Magnus Eriksson, Thomas Eriksson, Peter Johannson, Magnus Ek and Pontus Jansson was renamed Axenstar.

Axenstar released their first album Perpetual Twilight on the Spanish label Arise Records in October 2002. This album received good reviews worldwide and Axenstar got the chance to play at the Motala Metal Festival .

In May 2003, Axenstar recorded their second album Far from Heaven .

In January 2004 the band toured Europe for the first time as the opening act for Falconer . Magnus Ek was unable to take part in the tour; Joakin Jonsson ( Skyfire ) played bass as a substitute , which turned out to be very good.

The Inquisition - the third album - was released in 2005. During this time there were some problems within the band. In summer 2005 the guitarists Peter Johansson and Thomas Eriksson left the band for personal reasons. With the third album the contract with Arise Records ran out and Axenstar, now with Joakim Jonsson as lead guitarist, were looking for a new business. In autumn 2005 they signed a contract with the German label Massacre Records .

In the spring of 2006, the fourth album The Final Requiem was recorded as usual in the Studio Underground.

After the release of this album there were other changes within the band. Bass player Magnus Ek and drummer Pontus Jansson left the band due to lack of time. Just a few months later, the two remaining band members found a new drummer in Thomas Ohlsson. Ohlsson suggested Henrik Sedell, with whom he had previously played together, as the new bass player. The atmosphere in the band is very good, both on a personal and professional level.
