The Ay Gill is a watercourse in Cumbria and County Durham , England . It arises as Plat Sike and flows in an easterly direction. Before it crosses the border with County Durham it flows over the Ay Gill waterfall and is referred to as Ay Pool and Ay Pool Foot in the area of the border . When it meets the Yardstone Beck , the River Greta is created .
