Aya Wakisaka

Aya Wakisaka ( Japanese 脇 坂 郁 , Wakisaka Aya ; born October 22, 1981 in Fukuoka Prefecture ) is a Japanese badminton player .

Career

Aya Wakisaka comes from Fukuoka Prefecture, where she attended Wajirogaoka Middle School in the Higashi-ku district of Fukuoka , then the Seika girls' private high school in the Hakata-ku district, and then the Aoyama Gakuin University in Tokyo . She had her first big success in 1999 at high school where she and her classmate Yukiko Nomura took first place in the women's doubles at the Inter-High Badminton Championships. As a student, she took first place in the women's doubles students' badminton championship in 2000 and third place in 2003. In the same year she joined the Sanyo company at the same time as Ikue Tatani to play for their factory team.

Aya Wakisaka won the 2007 Australia Open in women's doubles with Ikue Tatani. In the same season, both were also successful at the New Zealand Open .
