National team

Kaihori played her first international game for Japan on March 31, 2008 against Taiwan . She won the world title with Japan at the 6th Women's World Cup in 2011 , where she was in the Japanese goal in all six games and distinguished herself with two saved penalties in the final in the penalty shoot-out .

Kaihori was also part of the Japanese squad for the London Olympics . But it was only used in the 0-0 win against South Africa in the preliminary round.

She was also part of the Japanese squad for the 2015 World Cup in Canada. In the group stage, coach Norio Sasaki used each goalkeeper once, and Kaihori in the second group match against Cameroon , where she was the only one of the three goalkeepers to concede a goal. Nevertheless, Kaihori was then used in all games in the final round. Even before the final against the USA, she was nominated as one of three goalkeepers for the award of the tournament's best goalkeeper, which was ultimately awarded to US goalkeeper Hope Solo . In the final she conceded five goals, one of which was shot from the center line where she stood far in front of the goal and could only reach the ball with her fingertips when running back.
