Aziz Alili

Hafiz Aziz Alili (born May 29, 1968 in Kumanovo , SR Macedonia , SFR Yugoslavia ) is chairman of the Islamic Faith Community in Zagreb ( Croatia ) and world champion in reciting the Koran.

Life

Alili began to memorize the Koran at the age of seven and became a Hafiz at nine years and eight months . After primary school he attended Gazi-Husrev-Beg- Medresa in Sarajevo . From 1984 to 1986 he was the muezzin of the Careva Mosque ( Bosnian Careva džamija ) and from 1989 to 1993 Imam of the Gazi-Husrev-Beg Mosque .

As a Koran reciter he took part in numerous world and European competitions, for example in Saudi Arabia , Iran , Egypt , Turkey , Malaysia and Croatia . He was the first Koran reviewer to represent Bosnia and Herzegovina at these competitions . Alili also took part in the International Festival of Sacred Music in Morocco .

Alili lives and works in Zagreb, is married and has four children.
