Azwell is a small unincorporated area in Okanogan County , Washington state .
history
Azwell is named after its founder Alfred Z. Wells ( A lfred Z . Well named s). Wells and his nephew, Alfred Morris, owned a Wenatchee hardware store and entered fruit growing when they moved to what is now the Azwell area. Their partnership ended in 1941, Alfred Wells kept the orchard and Azwell became a factory settlement with a few year-round residents.
In 1953 the place comprised around 120 hectares of apple and peach plantations, a warehouse for packing the fruit and a grocery store; about 20 families lived permanently in Azwell.
geography
The place is on the Columbia River , below Wells Dam , six miles (9.6 km) south of Pateros and 60 miles (96 km) north of Wenatchee .
