The adult fish get a red color on the caudal fin and smaller barbels on the mouth.

Aquaristics

The territory-forming fish is crepuscular and nocturnal. He feels comfortable in smaller groups. Due to the behavior of the territory and the need for sufficient swimming space for the fast fish , larger tanks from 100 cm with a stronger current are suitable for the loach.

Bright light or light broken into shady areas by floating plants is unsuitable. A soft ground is used for digging or gobies. The animals need flat stones to rest. The suitable temperature is between 22 and 24 ° C.

Live food , as well as food tablets and flake food , serve as food in the aquarium . They like to eat smaller snails, which has earned them a reputation as snail fighters.
