Bärbel Aichinger

Bärbel Aichinger (born September 3, 1940 ) is a former German hockey player .

Career

Bärbel Aichinger is a sports teacher by profession. Outside of her job, she was particularly interested in the game of hockey. She therefore became a member of the HTC Stuttgarter Kickers , where her brother Utz Aichinger was also a successful hockey player. Bärbel Aichinger played hockey in her club in the form of field hockey as well as indoor hockey. Because of her good performance, she was soon one of the regular players in the first team, with which she was German indoor hockey champion three times, namely in 1969, 1970 and 1971. Because of her successes, she also became a member of the German women's hockey team , in the it was used 51 times between 1960–1971.

On March 3, 1962, Federal President Heinrich Lübke awarded some German women who were successful members of the German national women's field hockey team the Silver Laurel Leaf . In addition to Bärbel Aichinger, Jutta Röchling and Katrin Hartung were among the winners .

After completing her career as a player, she became a sought-after referee, serving as a Bundesliga referee from 1971 to 1990 and internationally from 1974 to 1987. Since May 2005 she has been a member of the commission for referee and rule issues of the German Hockey Federation .
