Bärbel Rode

Bärbel Rode (* 20th century ) is a German disabled athlete who plays table tennis .

Career

Bärbel Rode is severely disabled and starts in a wheelchair ( class 2 ). Because of her good performance, she was appointed to the women's table tennis national team for the disabled. At the 1988 Summer Paralympics in Seoul , she competed in singles, but was eliminated in the quarterfinals. In 1991 she took part in the European Championships in Salou , where she won the gold medal in the individual and bronze in the team. At the European Championships in Hillerød in 1995 , she won gold with the team. The following year she took part in the 1996 Paralympic Summer Games . In her performance group TT 1 - TT 2 she was used in women singles. She was third behind two French players and won a bronze medal . For this success she was awarded the silver laurel leaf by the Federal President . At the European Championships in Stockholm in 1997 , Rode again won the gold medal with her team. In 1998 she was able to achieve a bronze medal in individual in the course of her last major international competition, the World Championships (world championships) in Paris . Her best position in the ITTF rating system within her class was 3rd place, which she last held in April 1999.
