Lifts and slopes in the Bärenalm ski area .

The Bärenalm has been a ski area for downhill skiing in the Austrian state of Upper Austria since 1969 . The ski area, which has been suitable for ski tours at least since 2006, is located in the Schafferkogel area in Hinterstoder . The eponymous Bärenalm (1626 m) is a bit (about 430 meters above sea level) and has never been accessed by lifts.

history

The first ski slope on the Schafferkogel in Hinterstoder was opened in 1969. This was the hour of birth of the Bärenalm ski area. In 1986 the first ski world cup race , a men's slalom, took place. A snowmaking system with 15 lances and 8 cannons was built for the ski world cup races . This snow-making system brought further ski world cup races, which ensured the continued existence of the Bärenalm for a long time . When even the snowmaking system could not prevent the cancellation of the Ski World Cup race in January 2003 due to lack of snow, plans were finally made for a new World Cup slope on the Hutterer Höss . Without the World Cup ski races, the last raison d'être of lifts under went Bärenalm lost and the ski area was closed after the operation of the previously raspberry Lucke lift had been set.

Lifts and ski slopes

The Bärenalm ski area consisted of three lifts and four ski slopes:

  • Bärenalmbahn double chairlift (A) with two ski slopes
    • Nordabfahrt (number 1)
    • Südabfahrt (number 2)
  • T-bar lift Himbeerluckenlift (SL I) with a ski slope
    • Raspberry Luck (Number 3)
  • Steinerreithlift (SL II) drag lift with one ski slope
    • Steinerreith (number 4)

Re-use of ski tours

In February 2006 it was reported that the lifts have already been dismantled, the parking lot (656 m) has been cleared and the slopes and the further way to the Alm are suitable for ski touring . The altitude and ascent times can be found there:

  • Parking lot (656 m)
  • Schafferreith (1050 m)
  • former mountain station (Berghaus at 1149 m) in 1:15 hours
  • Bärenalm (1626 m) in (another) 1:30 hours, (total) 1000 meters in altitude

Ski world cup races

The ski world cup races on the Bärenalm took place on the north run . It was marked as a red slope (medium level of difficulty) in regular ski operation . Between 1986 and 2000, three men's giant slaloms, one men's slalom, two women's slaloms and two women's giant slaloms were held on the Bärenalm . In January 2003 a planned men's giant slalom had to be canceled because the weather was too warm. After that, the ski world cup races were relocated to the Hutterer Höss from 2006 .

Individual evidence

  1. Piste tour to the Bärenalm OÖN, nachrichten.at, February 10, 2006, accessed August 27, 2018.
  2. Note. Since the former slopes plausibly begin at 1200 m at the lift mountain station, "1149 m" probably means the height of one of the houses or huts (shown in the picture) a little below the former lift mountain station.

3. Elevation information: Schaffereith 1050m, former mountain station 1150m, Schafferkogel 1200m
