Oswald Tötsch (born January 17, 1964 in Sterzing ) is a former Italian ski racer . The South Tyrolean was a member of the Italian national ski team between 1982 and 1990 and specialized in the technical disciplines of slalom and giant slalom .

biography

Tötsch celebrated his first international success in March 1982 when he won the silver medal behind the Swede Johan Wallner at the Junior World Championships in Auron . A year later he won his first World Cup points in the Le Markstein slalom and was Italian slalom champion in 1984 .

In the 1980s, Tötsch was one of the most consistent drivers in the Italian team , behind Alberto Tomba . Between 1984 and 1988 he was in the top ten 17 times. However, he was denied great individual triumph. He was on the podium only three times after a race. His best World Cup placement was second in the Kitzbühel slalom in February 1985.

In 1984 and 1988 he was a member of the Italian Olympic team and took part in the World Championships in 1985 and 1987. Tötsch ended his active career in 1990.

Since retiring from active winter sports, Tötsch and his wife have been running a hotel in his home town of Pfitsch .
