Carole Merle (born January 24, 1964 in Barcelonnette ) is a former French ski racer .
biography
The specialist in giant slalom and super-G has won 22 world cup races in her career , including 12 super-G and 10 giant slalom. From 1989 to 1992 she won the Super G World Cup four times in a row. She also won the small crystal ball in the giant slalom in 1992 and 1993.
Merle was runner-up in giant slalom at the 1989 World Championships in Vail and in Super-G at the 1991 World Championships in Saalbach-Hinterglemm . She achieved the longed-for world championship title at the 1993 World Championships in Morioka , where she triumphed in the giant slalom. Twelve years earlier she had won a gold medal in giant slalom at the 1981 European Junior Championships .
In her home country she won silver in the Super-G at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville . From 1985 to 1990 she was five times French champion .
