The Börtnen is a lake in the municipality of Berg , in the Swedish province of Jämtlands län . The lake is part of the Ljungan river system and is divided into two connected parts, the Stor-Börtnen or Börtnessjön and the Lill-Börtnen . The village of Börtnan , which is mainly known for its fish farming, is located at the northern end of the Stor-Börtnen.

In addition to the Ljungan, the Arån , Aloppan and Galån also flow into the Börtnen. The lake has a large, natural population of fish such as pike , perch , grayling , trout and char .

Before the partial lakes were referred to as Stor-Börtnen and Lill-Börtnen ( German : Großer and Kleiner Börtnen), they were called Yttre and Övre Börtnen (German: outer and upper Börtnen).
