The Alliance of Neutral Free Austria ( NFÖ ) is a Christian-oriented Austrian party whose main goal is Austria's exit from the European Union . The party has its seat in Innsbruck , the activity extends to the entire Austrian federal territory. The founding meeting took place on October 11, 2003 in Salzburg . The current party chairman is founding member Rudolf Pomaroli.

The NFÖ belongs to the category of small parties that are not represented in the National Council.

The NFÖ took part in the Austrian National Council elections on October 1, 2006 in the federal states of Vorarlberg, Tyrol, Salzburg, Carinthia and Vienna , achieved through declarations of support, but failed with 0.22% of the four percent hurdle (official list designation: " EU exit - Neutral Free Austria ").

In the state elections in Lower Austria in 2013 , it supported the Alliance of the Courageous Citizens' Party.

Positions

The NFÖ's programmatic focus is an intended exit from the European Union . In its view, the NFÖ also criticizes pseudo-democratic conditions and questions why popular initiatives are unsuccessful. The NFÖ cites Switzerland as a positive example of direct democracy . The NFÖ is an advocate of Austrian neutrality. Another goal is the dismantling of political privileges and a sense of responsibility for political action. The NFÖ believes that the need to promote and strengthen regional businesses vis-à-vis large multinational corporations is also a central issue. Under the motto "rail instead of transit avalanche", the NFÖ is calling for truck traffic to be curbed. Further concerns of the party are animal welfare , nature-oriented agriculture , alternative energies, the braking of art, which in the opinion of the NFÖ violates human dignity and religious feelings, the maintenance of the German language and the strengthening of Austrian identity and cultural self-respect.

The NFÖ also maintains political contacts to Germany, such as the Alliance of Democratic Parties and Organizations and the neutralist citizens' movement "New Direction", which pursue similar goals.

The NFÖ competed in the European elections in Austria in 2014 together with the EU exit party in the EU-STOP electoral alliance.

For national elections in Austria in 2017 joined party leader Pomaroli on the list of FLÖ on.
