The EU exit party for Austria ( EUAUS ) is an EU-skeptical party in Austria . It was founded on September 15, 2011 at the founding meeting at Schloss Ort in Upper Austria. The founding members were Robert Marschall (chairman), Elisabeth Sabler (secretary) and Veronika Lindinger (treasurer). On October 7, 2011, the party leaving the EU acquired legal personality by depositing its statutes with the Austrian Ministry of the Interior . On August 2, 2013, the EU exit party managed to run for the 2013 National Council election in the state of Vorarlberg . In Vorarlberg the necessary quorum of 100 supporter signatures with 125 signatures could be achieved, in other federal states this did not succeed. In the electoral alliance EU-STOP, the candidacy in the EU elections in 2014 was successful across Austria.

program

The cornerstones of the party's program are Austria's exit from the EU , maintaining Austria's permanent neutrality, Austria's self-determination, fair voting rights, greatly improved direct democracy in Austria, and measures for a higher quality of life in Austria. Sub- goals are the euro exit, the EURATOM exit, the exit from the Schengen Agreement , a restriction on immigration, tax money should be used for children and socially disadvantaged people instead of - as it is currently happening from the perspective of the party - "for banks, bankrupt states and EU ". Austria's tax money is to remain in Austria according to the party program.

According to party chairman Robert Marschall , the Austrian currency will be pegged to the Swiss franc in the event of the exit . Export losses due to a strong Austrian currency would be offset by cheaper imports .

Organizational matters

The EU exit party is a federal party without sub-organizations. According to the party, it is a movement from the people and for the people and therefore, according to its own statements, has no prominent politicians in its ranks. EUAUS is financed by private donations and membership fees. The party seat has already changed several times and is currently in Mödling (Lower Austria) after Vienna , Lower Austria and Styria . The active core of the party was estimated at around ten people in July 2013. Party chairman Marschall operates the website Wien-specifically , which describes itself as "independent" in the sense of "no dependence on party headquarters" .

elections

The party leaving the EU stood in the National Council election on September 29, 2013 in Vorarlberg. The budget for the election campaign was set at € 10,000. The party relied on the unique selling proposition that it was the only party that stood up for leaving the EU in this election. It received 508 votes, which corresponds to 0.29% of the valid votes in Vorarlberg and 0.01% in Austria. In the 2014 European elections , the party leaving the EU joined forces with the Alliance of Neutral Free Austria as the “EU-STOP” alliance and received 77,897 votes, which corresponds to 2.8% of the valid votes in Austria. For the 2016 federal presidential election , party chairman Marschall announced his intention to run for office. After Marschall failed to obtain the necessary number of declarations of support, he intended to challenge the election. He blamed the media for failing to obtain the necessary declarations of support, which, in his opinion, had not reported on him. With this reason given, he expelled an ORF camera team from his press conference.

For the National Council election 2017 , the EU exit party collected nationwide declarations of support in order to stand together with independents as an electoral party (list) For Austria, immigration stop , border protection, neutrality, EU exit (EUAUS). In the federal capital Vienna, the election was made. The list received 693 votes (0.01%) in the election. The EU exit party originally wanted to run in the 2019 European elections in Austria . For this, 2,600 declarations of support had to be collected between March 12 and April 12, 2019, and the party leaving the EU did not reach the required number of declarations of support.
